Background:

Dr. Garrett Barnes, Chief Medical Officer, Senior Tactical Instructor.

Dr. Barnes received his medical degree from Loyola University in Chicago, Illinois. He has worked as an Emergency Physician since 2001 and served as the Emergency Department Medical Director for 8 years. 

In 2013, Dr. Barnes joined the Rome/Floyd County SWAT Team and has served as their Chief Medical Officer for the TEMS unit since that time. He was sworn in as a reserve deputy sheriff in Floyd County as well. Dr. Barnes joined the GSP State SWAT team in 2014 as the Chief Medical Officer and in 2019 became an Advanced SWAT sniper. In 2021, Dr. Barnes joined Phoenix Air Group, a complex fixed-wing medical transport company, as an independent contractor physician. Dr. Barnes has attended several NATEC classes and has successfully completed the requirements for NATEC Tactical Instructor. NATEC is honored to have Dr. Barnes as their Chief Medical Officer whole also serving on the NATEC Advisory Board
